Spiderman Into the Spiderverse

We all know the story of Peter Parker. He was bitten by a radioactive spider while on a high school field trip. This bite gave Parker the powers of a super-spider. After losing his Uncle Ben because he did not use his abilities, the words , “With great power comes great responsibility”, became his creed. He became the one and only Spider-Man! However, if that is the only story you know, then you don’t know the whole story. Miles Morales was also bitten by a radioactive spider and he is about to discover the multiverse contains a whole slew of Spider People.

Don’t let the fact that this is an animated adventure make you think this is just some “kid movie.” This is one of the best Spider-Man tales Marvel has ever put on the big screen and it can be enjoyed by children, teens and adults alike. It has some of the best action scenes you have ever seen, and it is constantly funny, with heart at the same time. There’s a nice gallery of villains and a diverse group of heroes including Spider-Women and even one Spider-Pig!

The primary focus of this story is on Miles who is Afro-Latino. Most of the general public only know Peter Parker as Spider-Man, but comic book fans have been clamoring for this change for a long time. This was in production long before Black Panther came out earlier this year, but as that movie proved and this one will too, that superhero movies can be colorblind.

The volume of movies about to hit cinemas over the next few weeks is almost mind blowing. Not everyone can afford to go to the theaters multiple times. If your family prefers to see something that is action-packed, a movie that everyone can enjoy, Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse is it!
