Little Fockers

It’s the holiday season once again; a time to get together with your family.  If you can’t see your family at this time of year then head out to your local movie theater and get together with the Fockers one more time.  Yes, the Fockers are back again in their best installment yet.  Everyone from the first two movies, “Meet the Parents” and “Meet the Fockers” are back: Greg “Gaylord” Focker (Ben Stiller), Jack Byrnes (Robert DeNiro), Bernie and Roz Focker (Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand) and family “friend”, Kevin Rawley (Owen Wilson) too.

The new movie takes place almost six years after the last movie.  Pam (Teri Polo) had twins, Samantha and Henry (Daisy Tahan and Colin Baiocchi) who are about to turn five years old.  Jack has become concerned with the genealogy of the Byrnes family and needs someone to take over after he is gone.  He turns to his son-in-law, Greg, to see if he is willing to become “The Godfocker”.  When Jack comes to visit he wonders if he made the right choice.  What is Greg doing with a Viagra like drug called Sustengo?  And what exactly is his relationship with the drug rep from the company, Andi Garcia (Jessica Alba)?  These start to arouse Jack’s old suspicions about Greg once again.

Situational comedy has always been the stable of this film franchise and if this is the last movie of the series they saved the best for last.  There are so many laugh out loud moments in this one.  From the dinner table, to Greg trying to back up a truck full of dirt to the climax of the film there is almost always something to laugh at or to make you smile.

A big reason for the success of these movies is the stellar cast.  There is such amazing talent it’s almost a small miracle that so any good people are present.  Besides Jessica Alba new cast members include Laura Dern, who runs the “Early Human School” and Harvey Keitel as a crooked contractor.  Alba was a real delight in this film.  Her role is so bubbly and she is a welcome shot in the arm for the movie.  Paul Weitz, who directed such movies as “American Pie” and “About a Boy”, takes over as director from Jay Roach and his brand of comedy is also welcomed into the franchise.

The holiday season always can use a great comedy so why not get together again with the Fockers for a really great time.  It is rated PG-13 for mature sexual humor, language and some drug content.

Little Fockers is the focking funniest Focker of them all!
